About the Taxpayers’ Alliance

The TaxPayers’ Alliance is Britain’s independent grassroots campaign for lower taxes. After years of being ignored by politicians of all parties, the TPA is committed to forcing politicians to listen to ordinary taxpayers.

Our Team

The TaxPayers’ Alliance has a small but enthusiastic campaign team based in central London. We have activists all across the country, and over 75,000 supporters nationwide.

Our Mission

Taxes have been rising but there has been very little improvement in the quality of schools, hospitals and transport provided by government. National debt has now surpassed £1 trillion and unless action is taken to tackle unsustainable public spending future generations will inherit the consequences of today’s extravagance. High taxes damage the British economy and our way of life. Burdensome taxation stunts economic growth and tens of thousands of jobs are being lost as huge tax bills reduce incentives to work, invest and save. In the long-run, higher taxes make us all poorer.

Our History

The TaxPayers’ Alliance (TPA) was launched by Matthew Elliott and Andrew Allum in early 2004 to speak for ordinary taxpayers fed up with government waste, increasing taxation, and a lack of transparency in all levels of government. No party was standing up for taxpayers and nearly all politicians were committed to bigger government, higher spending and secretive deals behind closed doors. The TPA sought to challenge this status quo.

Annual Reviews

Each year we publish an annual review which is mailed out to our supporters to keep them updated on our work. We keep an archive of these here on our website to show how the TaxPayers' Alliance has developed over the years.
